These homemade Sweet Potato Dog Treats are made with only 2 ingredients! All you need is whole wheat flour and pureed sweet potatoes baby food. Both healthy and dog friendly. They are the perfect treat for your fur baby!

Ingredients

  • Whole Wheat Flour – whole wheat flour is safe for dogs to consume. The only exception is if your dog has a gluten allergy or sensitivity. If so, you should use gluten-free flour.
  • Pureed Sweet Potato Baby Food – sweet potato baby food is safe for dogs to consume. It should be consumed sparingly and not as part of their regular diet.

How to make homemade dog treats

  1. MIX INGREDIENTS: Mix together whole wheat flour and pureed sweet potato baby food.
    TIP: If the dough is too thick you can add a little water, but no more than a tablespoon. 
  2. ROLL DOUGH FLAT: On a lightly floured surface, use a rolling pin to roll dough to ¼ inch thickness and cut with a cookie cutter. 
  3. BAKE: Place on a greased baking sheet in a single layer. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
  4. COOL: Let cool completely before serving.

  • It is important to note that these treats should be shared in moderation. They should not replace your dogs’ meals.
  • I used heart-shaped cookie cutters, but feel free to use whatever shape you like!

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cups Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2 4- ounce jars pureed sweet potato baby food

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit. 
  • In a medium bowl, mix together whole wheat flour and pureed sweet potato baby food.
    PRO-TIP: You may need to add a little water, but no more than a tbsp, to form a ball. 
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to ¼ inch thickness and cut with a cookie cutter. 
  • Place on a greased baking sheet and lay in a single layer on the pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes. 
  • Let cool completely before serving.

Notes

  • Store in an airtight bag or container for 5-7 days. For longer storage, keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks
  • Best to make these in small batches because they might mold quicker than other dog treats
  • Always consult your veterinarian before giving your dog new foods.
