INGREDIENTS

  • All-purpose flour
  • Salted butter: You can switch this out for unsalted butter, but add an extra pinch of salt. 
  • Light brown sugar: You can replace this with granulated white sugar for a bite that is lighter in color and flavor.
  • Powdered sugar: You can use granulated white sugar instead.
  • Whole milk: Switch this out for half and half or heavy cream, but you might find you need a little more of it because it will be thicker. 
  • Vanilla extract
  • Dark chocolate chips

SUBSTITUTIONS AND ADDITIONS

  • Use Your Favorite Flour: Feel free to swap the all-purpose flour for whole wheat flour, almond flour, pastry flour, or oat flour. Feel free to use gluten-free flour if you are gluten intolerant.
  • Choose Your Chip: This can be replaced with mini chocolate chips, milk chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate, white chocolate, peanut butter, or butterscotch chips. 
  • Customize Your Cookie Dough Bites: It is so easy to create your own custom version of these bites using your favorite mix-ins or decorations. Add some chopped walnuts (about ½ cup), sprinkles (about ¼ cup), cookie crumbs, crushed candy, M&Ms, or peanut butter (add ¼ cup with the milk and vanilla extract) to the dough mixture. You can even add a chocolate covering or drizzle (½ to 2 cups of melted chocolate). Everything tastes delicious in this Cookie Dough!

Cookie Dough Bites are easy-to-make, perfectly portioned, no-bake balls that are completely safe for snacking. This simple recipe quickly combines everyday ingredients, all in one bowl, to form an egg-free batter that you can eat straight from your spoon without worry!

  1. Heat Treat The Flour: Spread the flour on a sheet pan and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 5 minutes. Set it aside to cool for about 10 minutes.
  2. Make The Dough: Beat the butter and light brown sugar together until creamy. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar on the lowest setting until combined and light and fluffy. Mix in the milk and vanilla extract. Beat in the cooled flour and fold in the chocolate chips.
    PRO-TIP: Let the butter soften, it will make it easier to mix.
  3. Roll Into Balls: Scoop the dough and roll into balls with your hands. Place dough balls on a plate or baking sheet.
  4. Chill: Chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set. Plate and serve cold. Enjoy! (these are delicious mixed in with vanilla ice cream!)

Tips

  • Since this cookie dough does not contain any leavening ingredients, it is not recommended to bake into cookies. 
  • You can add a bit more flour if the dough is too soft or sticky, or add more milk if the dough is too stiff.
  • To make this even faster, you can bake the flour ahead of time. Then when you are ready to make your edible cookie dough bites, just combine the ingredients.

Storage Tips

  • To Store: Place these in an airtight container and into the refrigerator for 5-6 days.
  • To Freeze: freeze these by wrapping them individually and keeping them for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator until soft enough to bite before serving.

Ingredients
  

  • cups all-purpose flour spooned and floured
  • ¾ cup (1 ½ sticks) salted butter softened
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp whole milk
  • tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and spread the flour out on a large sheet pan.
  • Bake the flour in the oven for 5 minutes to heat treat it.
  • Remove the pan with the flour from the oven and set aside to let it cool for about 10 minutes.
  • While the flour is cooling, make the dough in a large bowl by using a hand or stand mixer to beat the salted butter and light brown sugar together until creamy, about 1 minute.
  • On the lowest setting of the mixer, gradually beat in the powdered sugar until completely combined, about 1 minute. You should have a light and fluffy butter mixture at this point.
  • Mix in the whole milk and vanilla extract until completely combined, about 30 seconds.
  • Once it has cooled, beat in the all-purpose flour until it is incorporated into the dough, about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Fold the dark chocolate chips into the cookie dough.
  • Use a 1 ½ inch cookie scoop to scoop the dough into balls.
  • Roll each ball of dough in your hands to smooth it out and place it on a plate or sheet pan.
  • Place the cookie dough bites in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to set.
  • Plate and serve cold.

Notes

Storage:

Tips:
  • If you don’t have a cookie scoop, use a large spoon to scoop out cookie dough about the size of a ping pong ball. Then roll the dough into balls like you would normally do. The bites don’t have to be identically sized to be delicious.
  • The reason we heat treat the flour is because it is a raw ingredient. It can get bad bacteria in it such as E. Coli. The flour must reach 160 degrees Fahrenheit in order to get rid of any bacteria that could be lurking. Make sure that you take care of yourself and your family by not skipping this step. 
  • To make this even faster, you can bake the flour ahead of time. Then when you are ready to make your edible cookie dough bites, just combine the ingredients.
  • Customize these Cookie Dough Bites to your liking!
