WHAT TYPE OF APPLES IS BEST FOR HOMEMADE APPLESAUCE?

When it comes to picking out the best apples for making applesauce, you can get by with just about any type of apple. So, if you have a particular favorite, feel free to use that. However, since you will be cooking the apples and blending them, it typically works best to use apples that are soft such as Fuji, Golden Delicious, or McIntosh.

How to make crockpot applesauce

This recipe will come together in just 10 minutes of prep time. Then, it’s as simple as letting the Crockpot work its magic!

  1. Wash and peel your apples, cut them into quarters, and add them to the Crockpot.
  2. Add white and brown sugars, water, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Stir to coat apples.
  3. Cook in the CrockPot on high for 3-4 hours.
  4. Remove excess liquid from the CrockPot and blend with an immersion blender.
Pro-Tip: Instead of using an immersion blender, you can also mash the apples by hand if you are okay with a bit of a chunky texture. Alternatively, you can also blend the apples in a blender if you don’t have an immersion blender.
  5. Serve warm or chilled based on your preference.
