Homemade Crockpot Applesauce is hands down the best applesauce ever! It is a fix-it and forget-it Fall recipe!
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 4 hours
Total Time 4 hours 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 6 apples peeled and quartered
  • ½ cup and 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp water (or ¼ cup water depending on apple size)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Wash and peel the apples. Chop the apples into quarters and add them to the crockpot.
  • Add the white sugar, brown sugar, water, lemon juice, and cinnamon to the crock pot. Gently stir to cover the apples.
  • Cover the crockpot and cook for 3-4 hours on high.
  • When the timer goes off, turn the crockpot off and let the apples cool for about 5 minutes.
  • Remove almost all of the excess liquid from the crockpot before blending with an immersion blender.
  • Serve warm or chilled, depending on preference.

Notes

Note: If you don't have an immersion blender, you can also mash the apples by hand, but you will have a bit of a chunky texture. You can also blend the apples in a blender.

Storage :
  • To Store: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 10 days.
  • To Freeze: Applesauce can be frozen in Ziploc freezer bags or an airtight plastic container for up to 6 months. Place it in the refrigerator overnight to thaw.
  • To Reheat: If you like your homemade applesauce warm, you can simply pop it in the microwave or heat it up in a saucepan on the stovetop.
