Hot Chocolate is one of my favorite winter treats. Nothing is better than coming in from skiing or sledding and having a nice cup of hot cocoa. So this Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate was a game-changer for me! Now I can have my favorite hot chocolate ready for me as soon as I get home.

Slow cooker hot chocolate is a delicious treat on a cold day. Hot cocoa is one of my favorite winter drinks and this is my absolute favorite way to make it. I love how rich and smooth it is, plus it’s so easy to make a large batch of it at once! This drink is great for the family or a yummy drink for a winter party.

Ingredients

  • Sweet cream creamer 
  • Half and half
  • Cocoa powder
  • Semi-sweet chocolate bars
  • Mini marshmallows

Additions

  • Chocolate syrup
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Cinnamon 
  • Whipped cream

Kitchen Tools Needed

  • Slow Cooker
  • Measuring tools
  • Mixing spoon
  • Whisk

How to make Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

  1. Add the creamer, half and half, and cocoa powder into your crock pot or slow cooker; mix until combined
  2. Break the chocolate bars into squares and add into the pot
  3. Let cook for 2 ½ hours on low heat and whisk vigourously every 30-45 minutes
  4. Add marshmallows 10 minutes before it’s done
  5. Serve and add any additional toppings

Notes

  • Using higher quality chocolate will allow it to break down faster
  • If the end result is too chunky run the hot chocolate through a wire mesh strainer, but make sure to do this before adding the marshmallows
  • Making hot cocoa for a crowd? You can double or tripe the recipe while following the same instructions

Storage Instructions

You can store your hot cocoa in an air-tight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. To reheat either place it in the microwave or heat it on a stovetop.

Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate

Ingredients
  

  • 5 cups sweet cream creamer
  • 2 ½ cups half and half
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • 2 4 ounce bars semi-sweet chocolate bars
  • 1 ½ cups mini marshmallows

Instructions
 

  • Add the sweet cream creamer, half and half, and cocoa powder in a crockpot and whisk together until combined. Break the chocolate bars into smaller squares and add them to the slow cooker then cover.
  • Let cook for 2 ½ hours on low while whisking every 30-45 minutes. I recommend whisking vigorously in order to help break up the chocolate.  
  • 10 minutes before the cook time is done, add the marshmallows.
  • Pour and serve with any additional desired toppings.
